Join DBWP’s Brook & Bloom Program as we install a Rain Garden at the Cleveland Public Library Langston Hughes Branch! Join for the whole day, or stop by when you are available as we work to build a more resilient Doan Brook Watershed!
Brook & Bloom
The Brook & Bloom program works to address ongoing impacts of environmental injustice, stormwater flooding, limited green infrastructure, and a lack of youth workforce opportunities across Cleveland’s eastside neighborhoods.
Through this program, local youth will design, install, and maintain rain gardens at trusted, community-serving sites such as churches, schools, after-school centers, and nonprofit organizations. These rain gardens will reduce polluted runoff, improve water quality, enhance biodiversity, and expand access to nature. Participants engaged in this program will receive a stipend in recognition of their volunteer efforts, be empowered to take action, and acquire transferable skills in green economies, project management, and meaningful leadership skills.
What to Bring
What to bring: Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome. We will have limited gloves and hand tools available, but if you have your own garden tools, please feel free to bring those along! Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing that you do not mind getting a little dirty, and consider bringing water and/or snacks for your comfort!
Parking
Parking is available in the Artful parking lot off of Euclid Heights Blvd.
