The Doan Brook Watershed Partnership and an Eagle Scout candidate will be hosting an event to plant trees, cage those trees to protect from fauna, and mulch an area along the Doan Brook. We will be planting a variety of trees and shrubs. There will be kids, young adults, scouts, and adults participating, all are welcome. We will have a multitude of jobs including digging shallow holes for the trees, planting trees, spreading mulch, and caging trees. There will be tools available, but if you are able please try to bring your own tools (trowels, rakes, shovels, and gloves). A lunch (pizza), water, electrolyte drinks, pizza, shade, and extra sunscreen will be provided for all volunteers. The project will be lighthearted and very fun, though all volunteers should be sure to listen to the person directing their area of planting.
The event will be on May 24th, 2025 from 10am to 1pm. The event will take place along Fairhill road across from the E127th street outlet. There is parking available at 12200 Fairhill road.

Friends of the Doan Brook Gorge

A few years ago, some friends got together to start removing invasive species and planting native species in the Doan Brook Gorge in the hopes of making it a more resilient and accessible spot for community members to spend time in nature. Filled with meandering trails and multiple waterfalls, the Doan Brook Gorge is a beautiful and often under-utilized natural area of the Doan Brook watershed.

This year, we are hosting 6 “Habitat Stewardship Days” which will involve invasive species removal, native tree plantings, and so much more! Join us in helping to make the Doan Brook Gorge a more biodiverse and welcoming outdoor space for all!

What to bring: Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome. We will have limited gloves and hand tools available, but if you have your own garden tools, please feel free to bring those along! Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing that you do not mind getting a little dirty, and consider bringing water and/or snacks for your comfort!

Parking: Volunteers can park in the Fairhill Partners parking lot — or on E. 124 — and walk to the work site on Fairhill Road between E 124th and E. 127th.

Registration: Advance registration is requested but walk-ups are welcomed. For questions, please contact Emily at Emily@dbwp.org
