Register HereTRY-IT: Canoeing
Have you always wanted to try canoeing? Now’s your chance! Join Cleveland Metroparks to learn paddle techniques and basic boat fitting as you try canoeing under the guidance of certified instructors. Canoeing is a wonderful activity for families as you can share the same canoe!
A couple of things to note:
- All participants should arrive early, and be prepared to sign an additional waiver.
- Canoes can hold more than one individual; capacity will be determined by instructors onsite. In some cases, smaller children might be able to ride as a non-paddler in the bottom of an adult’s boat (this applies to canoes only).
- Individuals should plan to get wet. Footwear that secures to the foot such as a tennis shoe or a water shoe is mandatory while participating in the activity. Crocs, slides, or flip flops are not suitable, and footwear is not provided.
- Activities will be on land and on the lake. All participants are required to wear a properly fitted lifejacket while on the water (provided by Cleveland Metroparks Outdoor Recreation).
- Your feedback about the program is essential. Please help us to continue to offer successful programs by completing an online evaluation.
Participants must be AT LEAST 8 YEARS OLD to participate. All youth participants must be accompanied by a responsible adult. In some cases, smaller children might be able to ride as a non-paddler in the bottom of an adult’s boat (this applies to canoes only).
Participants must be UNDER 275 POUNDS to accommodate the life jackets and boats available.
