SUMMARY:Take to the Lake
DESCRIPTION:Save the Date: Saturday\, August 22nd 10am – 4pm\nTake to the Lake\nDoan Brook Watershed Partnership has been hosting our annual event Take to the Lake which was started in 2013 as a memorial to Lester Stumpe\, an avid paddler and early DBWP board member. We typically host the event on the last Saturday in August and this years event details can be found below. Canoeing on the Shaker Lakes was a popular pastime in the first half of the 20th century\, but public boating on the lakes is now less common. Take to the Lake gives participants a chance to resurrect this recreational opportunity for a day\, and gain a new perspective on the lakes and their place in our watershed community. We hope you will join us for an afternoon of paddling\, guided hikes\, yoga\, along the banks of historic Lower Shaker Lake. \nEvent Details\nWhere: Lower Shaker Lake\, Brook Rd. Shaker Heights \nWhen: Saturday\, August 22nd 10am-4pm \nParking: Please park along South Park Blvd and walk over to registration along South Park and Brook Rd.

SUMMARY:Free Trees For CLE
DESCRIPTION:100 FREE native trees for Cleveland residents!\nDoan Brook Watershed Partnership (DBWP) has 100 native trees to give away to Cleveland residents.  \nCleveland residents are eligible for two free trees and must plant the trees on Cleveland private property. Additionally\, all recipients are required to attend “Tree School 101\,” a 15-minute presentation on caring for and maintaining trees. Several species are available\, including Red Maple\, Ohio Buckeye\, Eastern Redbud\, American plum\, and Pawpaw. Requests for specific species of trees for your yard are unavailable due to unknown species availability. Most trees will be between three and six feet in height in three to five-gallon buckets. \nInterested individuals must fill out a form before receiving their trees.  \nThis event will be held in the rear parking lot of the Fairhill Partners Campus. Check the map below with specific event locations and traffic flow. \nDirections for community members to follow to reach the DBWP live stakes drive through events. \nAbout our Free Tree Program!\nDBWP received a $10\,000 grant from the Cleveland Tree Coalition to provide trees at no cost to Cleveland residents to increase planting on private property\, build sentiment around trees\, and build community trust. Approximately 30% of the Doan Brook Watershed is covered by tree canopy. When sub-dividing the watershed into smaller neighborhood units tree canopy’s cover as low as 4% of these areas! Help us  increase our tree canopy to encourage resiliency across Cleveland. \nFor more information\, visit our Tree Programs page. \n  \n
