SUMMARY:Take to the Lake
DESCRIPTION:Save the Date: Saturday\, August 22nd 10am – 4pm\nTake to the Lake\nDoan Brook Watershed Partnership has been hosting our annual event Take to the Lake which was started in 2013 as a memorial to Lester Stumpe\, an avid paddler and early DBWP board member.  Canoeing on the Shaker Lakes was a popular pastime in the first half of the 20th century\, but public boating on the lakes is now less common. We hope you will join us for an afternoon of paddling\, a guided hike\, yoga\, and watershed education along the banks the Doan’s waters. \nEvent Details\nWhere: Lower Shaker Lake\, Brook Rd. DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nLooking for a break from the sun and the crowds during our 2026 Take to the Lake event? Join the Doan Brook Watershed Partnership for a guided and interactive family-friendly hike around Lower Lake! \nAs we explore the brook and its surrounding habitats\, you’ll discover the incredible diversity of plants and wildlife that call the Doan Brook home. Come connect with nature\, ask questions\, and gain a deeper appreciation for the plants\, animals\, and ecological processes that make the Doan Brook such an important part of our community. \nWhere to meet\nWe will meet for our hike at the Doan Brook Habitat table on the west side of Brook Rd.  \nDon’t have time for an entire hike\, but already at Take to the Lake?
